Something TJ my son wrote when he was in 2nd grade, 1988
I like to celebrate Jesus' birthday. It is not for toys.
Christmas is on the 25th of December. Jesus' birthday is on Christmas. It is a time for
being glad. I hope I get a bicycle from Santa Claus. You should be nice to Jesus and Santa
Claus or you will not get toys. Christmas means a lot to me.

Bethlehem
But you, O Bethlehem of Ephrathah, who are one of the little
clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to rule in Israel, whose
origin is from of old, from ancient days. Micah 5:2
Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to
Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and
family of David. He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was
expecting a child. Luke 2:4-5
When they had heard the king, they set out; and there, ahead
of them, went the star that they had seen at its rising, until it stopped over the place
where the child was. When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with
joy.
Mathew 2:9-10..

Luke 2:4-14 (English-KJV)4
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into
Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house
and lineage of David:)
5
To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished
that she should be delivered.
7
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling
clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field,
keeping watch over their flock by night.
9
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord
shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good
tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a
Savior, which is
Christ the Lord.
12
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in
swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host
praising God, and saying,
14
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

The
Angels Cried ![xmasangel1.gif (3625 bytes)](GIF/xmasangel1.gif)
They came from near,
they came from far
Following a distant star to where He lay
Not being sure of what it meant, but
Knowing it was heaven sent
They made their way
And the creatures gathered 'round
And didn't make a sound
And the angels cried
The angels knew what was to come
The reason God had sent His son
From up above
It filled their hearts with joy to see and
Knowing of His destiny
Came tears of love
I've often thought about that night
And wondered if they realized
That star so bright
Was sent to tell all the land
The Son of God would soon become
The Son of Man
And the angels cried....

![candy canes](GIF/caneline.gif)
A humble man wished to use
his candymaking art to make a Christmas gift for Christ that came straight from the heart.
First he shaped the candy into a shepherds staff, a
"J" - to stand for the name of Jesus, who was born on Christmas Day.
He used white stripes to symbolize Jesus virgin
birth, and His sinlessness and purity during His time on earth.
Finally, he decorated the candy with stripes made out of
red, to represent the scourging and the blood that Jesus shed.
He had created the Candy Cane, to remind us during this
season that Christmas is a sweet gift of love - Jesus is the reason for the season.

Tips for surviving the Holidays for the newly bereaved.
- Be honest with yourself and with family and friends. Decide what you can
handle comfortably and what you may have difficulty with. Communicate honestly your needs,
wishes and desires. Assess things like do you wish to stay home or go to another
environment, cook dinner or have someone else do that for you? Let your family and friends
know if it helps you to talk about your loved one or if it's better for you at this time
not to talk about them.
- Make any necessary changes that are most comfortable for you. Don't let others push you
into activities you might not yet be ready for.
- If you decide to do holiday gift shopping, make a list before hand to make the process
as quick as possible.
- Sometimes dwelling on one's self and one's situation can only make things feel heavier
and darker. Try reaching beyond yourself and doing something special for another person.
Sometimes refocusing on something else helps immensely. Donate money or time to the
favorite charity of your loved one, donate food to a shelter or community food pantry,
help cook holiday meals for the homeless, adopt a needy family for the holiday are but a
few ideas.
- Don't be afraid to recognize your loved one's presence in your home and family. Take
time to reflect and remember. Look at pictures as a family, listen to favorite music
shared with your loved one in times past, burn a special candle in their memory, hang
their stocking with the rest of the family's. Do what is most comfortable for you. Perhaps
creating new traditions that include a remembrance.
- Re-evaluate your priorities. There are so many "tasks" during the holiday
season such as holiday cards, shopping and wrapping gifts, baking cookies, putting up a
tree, holiday meals etc. Are these things you are ready for, wish to set aside for now or
would appreciate help from other family members with? Don't be afraid to delegate when
necessary.
- Allow yourself time to express your feelings and emotions. The holiday season can often
magnify the sense of loss and grief and increased feelings of sadness are normal. Share
these feelings with a trusted family member or friend. Also make sure to nap during the
day and try to go to bed at a consistent time. Holidays can be physically and emotionally
draining on everyone, but is more pronounced during times of grief.
- Realize that as difficult as this holiday season may be for you, it will get better and
easier each year. Most importantly, do not be frightened of having fun and enjoying a day,
a moment during this holiday season. Laughter, smiles, enjoying the beauty of a moment are
not disrespectful. Give yourself and your family permission to celebrate and enjoy this
holiday season.

Holden's last Christmas, 1995. It was such
a wonderful Christmas celebration. We had a full size tree with beautiful glass and pastel
ornaments with gold ribbons on it, and in the family room there was another full size tree
decorated with Santa's and candy canes, and in the kitchen was a homespun smaller
Christmas
tree, and all three kids had trees in their rooms. We had a lot of presents, and the
house was full of love, and it was wonderful! This Woody doll given to Holden by his
sister, was one of his
favorite toys. He carried it everywhere, and we put it in his coffin with him. I miss
you son, always I miss you, but I miss you at Christmas time, something terrible. I hope
in Heaven, the celebration of the birth of Jesus, is as glorious and wonderful as I can
only imagine it must be. Just like in the book The Littlest Angel, I can even imagine you
giving the baby Jesus a box of the most prized possessions of yours, maybe it would include
your favorite rocks you found, and a few snakes made of plastic, and the best twigs you
could pick up from our hikes, and your Happy Meal toys, and the copper penny we got at
Kennecott, and all of the things that are important to a little boy of only 4. Now your my
littlest angel, and I know your just the most beautiful angel boy in heaven.
Merry Christmas Holden Mykel
I Miss you punkin man!
